Movement as Growth
Today, a short entry to process something I just read:
“If stillness is being, movement is becoming. Out of causal stillness, everything arises. And fundamentally, every THING in our cosmos is energy. Movement, therefore, is the flow of energy, information, and creativity. It is the motion of light, heat, electricity, magnetism, gravity and all processes of life and matter. It is emotion, thought, belief, inspiration, innovation and creativity. Energy is intelligence in action. Life is movement…. Life seeks always to express itself. To move and flow as a river must move and flow…
It is the nature of the soul to be and become.” — Thomas Hubl, Attuned
For the first time in my life, I’m part of a fitness group and have a fitness coach. It is not something I ever saw myself doing and I am for sure struggling with the changes. This year, I am focused on personal growth through acceptance of what is put on my path, a la The Surrender Project (Michael Singer). So I accepted the gift of joining this fitness group, despite the fact that I have never wanted to count my macros, go to a gym, nor work out on the regular in any form other than long jogs through picturesque landscapes.
I’ve worked out 1 of 4 days. I didn’t honestly intend to today either (we’re going out of town for mother’s day), but then I read that quotation.
I feel it telling me that working out— following this fitness program that has been put in my path— is the next step in my growth. My goal doesn’t seem related to fitness: As a mother as well as in my everyday life, I want my default state to be joy and love. I want to bask in joy and radiate love. It doesn’t seem related. But.
But if movement is becoming…
and my therapist recently told me, “You can read all the books, but unless you’re actually physically practicing, you’re not going to experience the growth”…
and if energy is intelligence in action…
then I think it’s time to stop writing and go work out.
